    Mildred Mae Mettler, age 99, of Shafter, passed away on Friday, Jan 25, 2019 at Carrington of Shafter. She was born on Sept. 23, 1919 in Medford, Okla., to Carl and Elizabeth Neumann. She was an active member of Ebenezer Reformed Church. Mildred was a 20-year member of AARP and went on many senior trips with that group.     The Shafter boys varsity basketball team took on Taft Tuesday, Jan. 22, and ran away in the 4th period to give them the 53-44 victory. Then, on Thursday they played a hard- fought game but came up short against McFarland, losing 54-51. This moves the Generals league record to 3-6 and an overall record of 12-13.     The evangelistic event at Frist Southern Baptist Church originally scheduled for the first weekend in March is being moved to Friday-Sunday March 8-10.
