    This past week the Generals baseball team played in the Wasco Tournament. The Generals went 2-1 in a tournament with very good competition. They lost the first game by a very close contest by a score of 2-1. Then they picked it up the second game by beating Mcfarland, 5-2, which put them in the position to play for 3rd against rival Wasco.     The Shafter High baseball and softball teams opened league play last week after a busy nonleague season. The Generals baseball team is 5-6 overall and 0-1 in league after a 22-3 loss to Arvin.     Residents have reported that they have received suspicious phone calls with the “City of Shafter” appearing in the caller ID. Callers have given numerous reasons for the contact, including water bill issues, loans, etc. The City of Shafter wants residents to know that these are not legitimate calls.
