    In the early 1980s, Kern County got some buses. Kern Regional Transit called the route that services Bakersfield to Delano and back North Kern Express, but now it's simply Route 110. Along the way, the 110 bus stops in Shafter, Wasco and McFarland to pick up a few passengers. If you were to catch a ride on 110, there would probably be a good number of students filling the seats.     Kern Transit will offer free rides to those from Wasco and Shafter attending Bakersfield College. The rides will continue through the summer session. In addition, the county also has funding available to offer the program again during the 2019-2020 school year. Over 12,000 free rides were given during the spring semester, and over 25,000 rides were given over the 2018-2019 fiscal year.     The Shafter Stingrays Swim Club has continued their strong swimming season with a successful trip up the mountain, coming back from Tehachapi with several top five finishes.
