Serving the community since 1922

Elementary art judged by Shafter Woman's Club

The Shafter Woman's Club recently judged elementary school student art at the Shafter Youth Center. The first place winners will be entered into the San Joaquin Valley District competition for further awards.

Besides judging art, members are also preparing for the Cans d'Arte in conjunction with the Colours Festival in Shafter. Then in March, Clubwomen art, crafts and photography will be judged.

The club also worked on a White Ribbon Campaign in conjunction with Martin Luther King's birthday. This program encourages males to pledge not to participate or tolerate violence against women

The Shafter Woman's Club is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, one of the largest and oldest women's organizations. It was founded in 1890. They usually meet the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Shafter Police Department's Community Room.

The Shafter Woman's Club was organized in 1915 and is open to any person who is interested in working in the community.
