Generals basketball picks up the pace

The Shafter boys varsity basketball team took on Taft Tuesday, Jan. 22, and ran away in the 4th period to give them the 53-44 victory. Then, on Thursday they played a hard- fought game but came up short against McFarland, losing 54-51. This moves the Generals league record to 3-6 and an overall record of 12-13.

The Lady Generals basketball team took on Taft Jan. 22 and beat the Wildcats 57-42. On Thursday, the Lady Generals had an away game at McFarland and had a hard loss of a final score 75-47.The Lady Generals are 14-6 overall and 6-3 in league play.

The Shafter boys soccer team had an impressive win against Taft last Tuesday, with a final score of 2-0. Then, on Thursday, they kept it rolling with a win against McFarland with a final score of 3-0. This puts the Generals 6-9-6 overall and a league record of 3-5-1.

The Lady Generals soccer team took on Taft Jan. 22 and beat them by a final score of 2-0. Then, on Thursday, they beat McFarland by a final of 1-0. The Lady Generals are on a four-game win streak and have a league record of 7-1-1, with an overall record of 12-8-2.

The Shafter Generals wrestling team took their first step to a league title with an SSL dual record of 3-0. The team beat Arvin 64-18, RFK 47-28 and Cesar Chavez 54-35. They will have their big dual meet versus rival Wasco on Jan. 31.
