Spring Break courses at SLC

The Shafter Learning Center will be offering courses for first through eighth graders while the students are out for spring break. The SLC has supplied the city with a variety of classes for all ages throughout the year, with a full slate of courses during the summer months.

For Spring Break, they will be offering a Caldecott Literature Circle March 18-22, 8:15 a.m.- 9:45 a.m. They also have a I Heart Shafter: Writing about Shafter History course, 9:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. For third and fourth graders, they are offering the Writing about Shafter History course from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and a Literature Circle course 9:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

During the week of March 25- 29, they will have an Astronomy course for first and second graders from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and a Keyboarding and Programming class from 9:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. A Keyboarding class be held for third and fourth graders, 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. There will also be a Marin Science class for third and fourth grade students from 9:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

During the period of April 15-19, third and fourth graders will have an opportunity to take a Keyboarding and Programming class 9:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. and an art class 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. For fifth and sixth graders, there will be a keyboarding class 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and Art 9:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. There will be a Coding Club course for sixth to eighth grade students 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

America Nino-Rodriguez of the Shafter Learning Center said that they are excited to offer these classes for the students who want something to do during their time off. “We are happy to have these classes available to give the children an opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time.”
