Wilson wins state historical society award

On June 22 in Placerville, Stan Wilson was awarded the Waddingham-Doctor Award of Merit by the Conference of California Historical Societies.

This award is given individuals who have given exemplary service to a historical society for 25 years or more.

Wilson has been active with the Shafter Historical Society for 40 years, served as the first president and is currently the curator-director of the Shafter Depot Museum.

Wilson also received recognition from the California State Assembly. A number of letters of support were sent to the conference in support of the nomination, which originated with the Shafter Historical Society.

Society members attending the awards ceremony in Placerville were Stan and Nancy Wilson, Stephanie Benito, and Roy and Susan Shaffner.
