OBITUARY: Jose De Jesus "Pepe" Flores Romo

March 17, 1957 — July 22, 2019

Jose De Jesus “Pepe” Flores Romo self-proclaimed cowboy, rodeo master, tequila enthusiast, hardworking man, died peacefully at home while holding his fiancés’ hand at the age of 62 on July 22, 2019, after a 9-month-long battle with cancer. He leaves behind five children and nine grandchildren.

Pepe was born on March 17, 1957, in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose Flores and Maria Guadalupe Romo.

Pepe spent much of his adult life participating in rodeos and working at his shop, Pacific Coast Tires. His favorite pastime was working on his ranch and traveling to new places. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, and he was a loving grandfather.

A wake will be held at Basham & Lara Funeral Care in Shafter on Aug. 2, 2019. Visitation will be held 5 p.m.-10 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers can be sent to 343 State Ave., Shafter, the morning of the wake.
