10 years ago: 2009

The Shafter Depot started a new tradition, the Christmas Tree exhibit. Locals groups and businesses participate in decorating their own Christmas trees for the event.

20 years ago: 1999

Some people were gearing up emergency supplies for Y2K, the changing of the computer clocks at the turn of the century. It was a fear for some not knowing what was going to happen when the New Year approached.

30 years ago: 1989

Downtown Shafter used to have some unique Christmas decorations, like bells, candy canes and garlands stranded across downtown Central Avenue. It was a wonderful feeling walking or driving downtown for the holidays.
