OBITUARY: Jacinto Ruiz Gomez

1942 – 2020

Jacinto Ruiz Gomez was born Aug. 17, 1942, in Donna, Texas, to parents Siriaco and Maria Gomez. He married the love of his life, Concepcion (Maldonado) Gomez, in Edinburg, Texas, on March 23, 1961. The couple moved to California in 1962, and settled in Shafter in 1965. Jacinto worked as a truck driver and in farming during his career; he was employed over the years by American Transfer, Gerald Ford Harvesting and Wilson Ag.

Jacinto was preceded in death by his son, Jacinto “Jay” Gomez Jr., and a grandson, Jumbo Gomez. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Concepcion Gomez; their children, Hilda and Humberto Gonzalez, Rene Gomez, Annette and Gabriel Espinoza, Israel Gomez, Xavier and Diana Gomez, Denise and Gus Rodriguez, Marinela Ramirez, and Erica and Joe Elizondo; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren, with one on the way.

A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place at Shafter Memorial Park on Friday, April 24, beginning at 11 a.m Social distancing will be required; if you join the family while they pay tribute to Jacinto, we kindly ask that you adhere to distancing instructions.
