After 20 years of business in Shafter, Holiday Ford decides to close their doors. Today, the Ford Theatre and Tin Cup are in that location at 1101 E. Lerdo Hwy.

20 Years Ago: 2000

The Mexican Colony Store/Cantina "La Gardenia" celebrated 72 years in business. It opened up in 1928 as a grocery store for locals.

30 Years Ago: 1990

Richland-Lerdo School District hired Dr. Daniel Knapp as superintendent.

40 Years Ago: 1980

The Shafter Library had a film festival book display celebration for Women's Right to Vote. Women's Right to Vote was ratified on Aug. 18, 1920, and became the 19th Amendment, celebarting its centennial this year.
