After 20 years of business in Shafter, Holiday Ford decides to close its doors. Today, the Ford Theater and Tin Cup are in the location at 1101 E. Lerdo Highway

20 years ago: 2000

The Mexican Colony Store/Cantina "La Gardenia" celebrated 72 years in business. It opened up in 1928 as a grocery store for locals.

30 years ago: 1990

Richland-Lerdo School District hired Dr. Daniel Knapp as superintendent.

40 years ago: 1980

The Shafter Library had a film festival book display celebrating Women's Right to Vote, ratified on Aug. 18, 1920. It became the 19th Amendment.
