A Shafter High student was injured after he was stabbed by another student Monday afternoon after school, Shafter Police reported.

According to Shafter Assistant Chief Diana Barnett, the department were dispatched to the high school, but they are not the investigating agency.

“I can tell you that the kid is okay, but we are not doing the investigation,” said Barnett. “That is being conducted by Kern High School District Police. According to a release sent out by the Kern High School District, the incident took place after school and involved an altercation between two students. The student who was stabbed was taken to a local hospital. The student who stabbed the student was arrested. KHSD spokesperson Erin Briscoe-Clark said that the stabbing was an isolated incident and no other students were in danger.”

Shafter High Principal Russell Shipley said he talked to the student who was stabbed Tuesday morning and he is doing well.

“Our young man is home, doing good and should be back to school in the near future,” Shipley said.

The investigation is ongoing.
