Salon empowers their clients to feel and look their best

Finding the right salon to style and cut your hair can sometimes be challenging. With Vicky's New Image Salon, you can trust them to provide excellent service at a reasonable price.

Owner Juana Pelayo said, "Since I was a child, I always dreamed about owning my salon. Now that I have realized this, I pride myself in making my customers feel beautiful and leaving them with improved self-confidence."

Before Pelayo opened her salon 15 years ago, she spent her youth learning from her aunt, who previously owned the salon for 10 years.

"Watching her enjoy her work and seeing how she treated her customers inspired me to pursue my goal of becoming a beautician," said Pelayo.

Vicky's New Image Salon offers men, women and children services to clean, condition, strengthen, cut, style and color their hair. They also do makeup, waxing and men's beard shaves.

"I am trained and licensed by Bakersfield's most important cosmetology school."

Pelayo attends beauty conferences twice a year to further her education and keep up with the latest trends.

"I try to always be at the forefront of styling and coloring. Going to these conferences, I learn a lot that I bring back and apply to benefit our clients."

The salon has a warm and inviting environment to make one feel comfortable. "We are friendly and hospitable, plus we are quick for those clients with a busy schedule," said Pelayo.

"Visiting us is fun, and there is always lots of laughter. Some even think it's therapeutic because we get to know our clients well and develop a special bond. They are loyal to us as we are to them."

Hair cuts for women are just $30, while cuts for men and children are $20. "We also give a senior discount which not many other salons in town provide," said Pelayo.

"You can't beat our prices."

The salon is very conscious of the many Wasco residents living on tight budgets, such as agricultural workers.

"This is our way of showing our appreciation for everything they do for the local economy," Pelayo said.

She also regularly donates to several youth organizations, including like the Wasco Bengals cheerleading and football teams.

"I do this because Wasco is my home and my whole family lives here. It's important for me to support causes that matter to the community."

Pelayo has four other employees. Together they have a combined 50 years of experience.

"For those who haven't tried us, we invite you to get to know the salon so you too can have a wonderful experience," said Pelayo.
