The Shafter High School Drama Department presents “The Drowsy Caperone,“ a musical within a comedy, May 12, 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. in the SHS Fredd Starrh Theater. $7 students, $10 general admission.

Wasco Branch Library is in partnership with NO Kid Hungry and the Kern County Superintendent of Schools in offering FREE meals and space to do homework. Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Free bookkeeping training program at MAOF, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation. 2130 Chester Ave., Suite 200, Bakersfield. Information, 661-336-6821. Related occupations include accounts payable/accounts receivable clerks and payroll clerks. Entry requirements: Must be at least 18 years old, must complete a reading and math assessment and have a high School diploma or GED.

All residential households are able to order four free at-home COVID-19 tests. These tests ship for free. Visit covidtests.gov.

MONDAY

Richland School Board of Education meetings are held the second Monday of each month, 6 p.m. at Golden Oak cafeteria, 195 S. Wall St.

Shafter City Council meetings are held at City Hall on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Wasco Woman’s Club – Meetings are at the Clubhouse at 1601 7th St. on the second Tuesday of each month. $15 fee for the lunch meetings.

Senior lunch program – Every first and third Tuesday of the month at Griffith Avenue Baptist Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St. Sack lunches will be given out at 11 a.m. Sponsored by Golden Gleaners.

WEDNESDAY

Shafter Rotary meets every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Shafter Veteran’s Hall. Shafter Kiwanis is every Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Shafter Veteran’s Hall.

THURSDAY

Wasco High School Board Meeting: 1900 7 th St. in Room 202. The meetings are on the second Thursday of every month and could also be held in the Library Room 1101. The Agenda is on WHS online.

Wasco Recreation & Park Board Meetings are on every 3rd Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hall at Barker Park in Wasco.

Shafter Recreation and the Gleaners have food distribution every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at the WCW Walker Senior Center, 505 Sunset Ave. Shafter.

FRIDAY

NEW: Wasco: Palm Avenue Middle School is having a Daddy Daughter Dance 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Richard Reding Gym.

NEW: Wasco High Tigers Swim Fri-Sat 5/13-14 State Championship at Clovis West time to be announced.

Food giveaway—The Impact Program is a weekly good giveaway provided to anyone in need, Fridays beginning at 7 a.m. first come, first serve. Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St., Wasco.

The Shafter Depot Museum is open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is located at 150 Central Valley Highway.
