Francisca "Kika" Castañeda

April 3, 1950 – June 26, 2022

Our loving mother passed peacefully in her home on June 26, 2022.

She was born on April 3, 1950, in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She resided in Wasco for more than 50 years. She worked processing roses in all aspects of production and other farm labor before she retired.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with family and friends and made great meals for them. Her love language was acts of service and enjoyed doing it. She had many specialties but she was known for her menudo, tamales and rice.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Santos Castañeda; children Veronica (Manolo) Rodriguez, Marine (Enrique) Puente, Santos Castañeda Jr., Lupita (Félix Mendoza) Castañeda and Marlene Castañeda; 12 grandchildren, Heaven Rodriguez, Maya Rodriguez, Marissa Puente, Enrique Puente Jr., Andrés Puente, Santos Castañeda III, Raymond Castañeda, Gabriel Castañeda, Gustavo Ruiz Jr., Adina Mendoza, Gianna Rodriguez, Felix Mendoza IV and another grandchild, a girl, is due in September. Also survived by her four sisters and two brothers: Adela Elizama, Hermelinda Garcia, Pedro Cortez, Teófilo Cortez, San Juanita Garza and Margarita Garza. Many nieces and nephews.

And her loyal pet, Chino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvador and Maria Cortez; siblings Salvador Cortez Jr. and Guadalupe Alanis, and daughter-in-law Carrie Castañeda.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 1401 7th St.

Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at St. John's the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1300 9th St., and burial at Wasco Memorial Park, 300 Leonard Ave., at 11 a.m.
