Obituary: Filemon P. Valdez

Filemon P. Valdez, 89, passed away on June 28, 2022, at his home in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on Nov. 22, 1932, in Martinitos, Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Rosendo and Aniceta P. Valdez.

Filemon grew up in Martinitos, Mexico. In 1961, he traveled and settled in Shafter. He started Valdez Trucking Co., where he worked until he retired in 1993.

Filemon married Delia Gomez on Jan. 22, 1961, in La Mermeja, Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. They were married for 61 years. Together they had eight children.

Filemon is survived by his spouse, Delia Valdez; his children Filemon (Angie) Aniceta, Roosevelt (Lani) Reynaldo (Gayla), Petra, Janie (Jeff), Raquel (Trini) and Ramon (Maria); grandchildren Ashlee, Jesse C., Andrew, Katarina, Audree, Jackie, Delia, Roman, Jesse V., Mia and April; great grandchildren Brooklyn, Emma, Josiah, Luca, Braxton, Madison, Christopher, and Matthew; and his brothers Rosendo Jr., Lidio and Aniceto.
