Families remember lost loved ones

Basham & Lara Funeral Care held their annual Holiday Remembrance Ceremony in Shafter last week, honoring those loved ones who had passed away this year.

The chapel was packed with families and friends who gathered to remember special people in the their lives.

There was a DVD slide show that featured all of the people who were being remembered, giving the families and friends a chance to see pictures of them, remembering them during the holiday time.

The opening prayer was given by Pastor Steve Seymour of Jesus Saves International Church, followed by a playing of the carol “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” A poem was read by Jaqueline Garza, and then Pastor Seymour had some thoughts for the season for the attendees.

Pastor Saul Gonzalez of the LifeHouse Church in Wasco delivered a list of the Loved Ones Remembered. Then it was time for the DVD slide show.

Pastor Gonzalez led a candle lighting ceremony. Refreshments were served in the reception room after family members were invited to decorate the tree with special ornaments that were in remembrance of their loved ones.

“We consider those who we serve as part of our family, and it is important that we help our families through this difficult holiday time,” said John Basham.
