Focus on Shafter High School - Nov. 21, 2019

Student Spotlight: Leonard Williams Jr.

Leonard Williams Jr. is currently a freshman at Shafter High School. For years, Leonard has been a part of the Richland School District's concert and marching bands playing the trumpet and baritone. Once he became a General, he knew he wanted to be a part of the high school's marching band; however, this year he challenged himself to be a part of the percussion line playing the bass drum.

This year, Leonard is most looking forward to participating in the rallies, meeting new people, competing with the Shafter High School drumline, and going out for the golf team. So far, he has loved his time on campus; especially his time in band. He explained that band is "really fun and a lot of work but it is worth it because [he] loves it."

His goal for the next four years is to stay involved and do well in school so he can apply to either the University of Washington or the University of Oregon. He hopes to major in mathematics and get a teaching credential so he can teach high school.
