Shafter High grad recognized at Taft College

Alicia Pompa went 5-9 in the last two games.

Alicia Pompa, a freshman at Taft College, was recognized as the Player of the Week for the Taft Cougars Softball team last week, after going a combined 5-9 at the plate, while playing a perfect two games at shortstop.

The Cougars took two games from visiting Ohlone College. They took game one of a doubleheader by a score of 11-3, and completed the sweep with a 7-3 win in the second game. Taft got 11 hits in the first game. In the game, Pompa had a two run double, ending the game by going 3-4 at the plate, with three RBIs.

In the second game, the Cougars had 10 hits, including two hits from Pompa. She ended the second game with a 2-4 performance at the plate, with an RBI and a run scored.

Pompa is a 2021 graduate of Shafter High School. She played shortstop for the Lady Generals, who ended last season as runners-up in the Valley Championship tournament.
