Obituary: Patsy Ann Lowe

Dec. 13,1933 – March 25, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Patsy Ann Lowe, 88, of Bakersfield, on March 25, 2022.

Patsy was born in Mission, Texas, to parents Albert and Evelyn Scogin. She had one brother, AY. The family came to Shafter in 1942. In 1955, Patsy married Wesley Janzen of Shafter. They had four children, Jerry, Ronald, Sheri and Suzanne.

Patsy was a fabulous mother. She took pride in her family and her home. She was always neat as a pin. Sadly, Patsy became a widow in 1973. After her husband passed, she completed her cosmetology license and enjoyed working at the cosmetic counter at Stringham’s Drugstore.

In 1976 Patsy met and married Johnnie Lowe of Wasco. Theirs was a love story that lasted 45 years. Patsy and Johnnie enjoyed an adventurous life together. Patsy became quite an equestrian, riding by Johnnie’s side from Ridgecrest to Death Valley three times and completing many trail rides with family and friends in the Sequoia Mountains.

They loved traveling the United States, and made it to all but one state together. For many years, the pair spent time in Quartzite, Ariz., and Rocky Point in Mexico during the winter months.

Everywhere they went, Patsy collected pretty rocks and shells. Reading and crossword puzzles were also favorite pastimes. Patsy and Johnnie also loved to dance and attracted a lot of attention when they did. Family was Patsy’s biggest love; she was a devoted wife and mother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her.

Patsy was preceded in death by her son Jerry Janzen of Bakersfield, her brother AY Scogin of Buena Park, her mother Evelyn Scogin Miller of Wasco, her father Albert Scogin of Shafter, and baby sister Linda Scogin of Shafter.

Patsy left behind her husband Johnnie Lowe of Bakersfield, daughters Sheri Janzen Flippen of Taft, Suzanne Janzen Borradori (Dante Borradori) of Bakersfield, daughter-in-law Peggy Janzen (Jerry Janzen), son Ronald Janzen of Bakersfield, stepdaughter Sandra Woods (Dwayne Woods) of Bakersfield, stepsons Johnny Michael Lowe of Bakersfield, David Lowe (Del Marie Lowe) of Calvin, Okla., and Ernie Lowe of Wasco. Also left behind are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law. Patsy will be greatly missed.
