Serving the community since 1922

Manuel Valdovinos

1946 – 2022

With deep sadness, we announce our beloved protector and patriarch Manuel Valdovinos' passing on April 5, 2022. In the quiet of the early morning, he set his last breath forward, surrounded by his children and grandchildren as he so desired.

At age 76, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter and survived by his 10 children, 30 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren He enjoyed sharing his abundance of love and smiles paired with music, good food and wine.

He attended a military academy and was a master mechanic and electrician for 51 years. Forty years ago, he hand-selected Shafter to lay his roots and remained here throughout his final days. In our small town and close-knit community, his family grew and flourished. Manuel opened a small automobile shop and passed on his joy of working on vehicles to his sons.

An avid reader with a passion for math, he stressed our education and encouraged a lifelong dedication to learning. Spending his final days at home, under the calm shade of his favorite tree, we will miss being able to stop by and share the ups and downs of life with our Papa.

Manuel was devoted to the word of our Lord and savored reading and sharing the Holy Bible. He cherished the simplicity of his day-to-day living, accepted his struggles with the "Never, never give up to anything!" motto, and peacefully anticipated the day his Papa God in heaven would take him home.

The legacy and love of Manuel Valdovinos will continue to grow and spread forward through his multitude of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those wishing to pay tribute or support the family can send flowers/contributions through Peter's Funeral Home of Shafter, where his services are arranged for this upcoming week.
