Pastor's Corner: The value of a Godly woman

Proverbs 31:10 says, "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." It speaks of a woman that is strong in moral principles. This woman in Proverbs is a strength and blessing to her husband and children. She is clothed with strength and honor and she loves God.

Godly women are a strength and a stability in this chaotic world, as they exhibit hope and trust in God. Some of the most godly women I have met were moms and grandmas in the church where I pastor. Many of them have went on to be with the Lord, but what I gleaned from them has been so precious and such a help.

Hannah was a godly woman. Hannah was a praying mom and she would pour out her soul before God. Hannah was barren but she prayed that the Lord would give her son. She said I will then give him back to you.

She kept her promise to the Lord and when Samuel was weaned she took him to the house of the Lord and gave him back to God and there he worshiped the Lord and God began to use him. Samuel had been born of a praying woman. Samuel grew up as a prophet and judge in Israel. He anointed and counseled Israel's kings. A godly woman is very valuable to the Lord.

Godly moms are a protection to their children. In 2nd Samuel 21:10 a woman named Rizpah saw her two sons hung by the Gibeonites. They would not bring the bodies down. Rizpah spread sackcloth upon a rock and for five months she protected their bodies from the birds and wild animals. Godly moms will fight and protect their children through prayer.

My mama didn't raise a fool. Proverbs 14:1, "The fool has said in his heart that there is no God." Godly moms teach their children that there is a God in Heaven. In 2nd Timothy 1:5 you see the value of a godly mom and grandma as they instilled godly faith in Timothy.

Moms are truly a special bouquet of roses.
