Gangs probed in 4 Wasco shootings

Four of this month's shootings with six victims may be gang-related, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Department.

Public Information Officer Lori Meza told the Wasco Tribune in an email that all of the incidents "may be gang-related but had not been confirmed at this time [Thursday]."

She also reported the names of the victims, and that no arrests had been made.

On Oct. 3 at approximately 7:38 p.m., in the 1000 block of Poso Drive, Marcos Quinitana, 31, of Wasco, was shot. The same night, at approximately 8 p.m., near the intersection of F Street and Almond Court, Alexander Garcia Miranda, 26, of Wasco, was injured due to a gunshot.

On Oct. 11, at approximately 6:28 p.m., near the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue. 46-year-old Juan Vasquez Hernandez, a 15-year-old male juvenile and an additional unidentified male juvenile subject were injured.

Later that night, at midnight near the intersection of Poplar Avenue and 1st Street. 24-year-old Joshua Marquez of Wasco.

An additional shooting on Oct. 12 at approximately 6:26 p.m., deputies determined Ramon Raya, 34, of Wasco was suffering from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
