An act of kindness paid forward

The Union Bank location in Wasco recently purchased several cases of Girl Scout cookies to support Troop 8163 Girl Scouts of Central California South. The bank let the girls decide who to donate the tasty treats to.

"We were overjoyed to learn that they selected the paramedics, EMTs and emergency medical dispatchers at Hall Ambulance," Mark Corum, director of media services, said.

In appreciation, the Hall Ambulance mascot, Siren the Rescue Dog, made a surprise visit Friday afternoon to welcome Troop 8163 to Hall Ambulance Post 31.

After looking inside an ambulance, Siren presented each Girl Scout with a Siren the Rescue Dog cuddle toy to say thank you.

"The Girl Scouts really enjoyed getting those."

Corum said the scouts could have donated the cookies to any local group or organization in Wasco and that it was tremendous for the members of Troop 8163 to pay it forward.

"It was heartwarming that they chose us at such a young age. It made our day extra special."

The donation was a reflection of the Girl Scout's principles, Corum said.

"The thoughtfulness they exhibited was a great opportunity for them to give back to the community beyond what they do with their regular activities."

"It develops leadership skills these young ladies can carry throughout their lives. It was an act of kindness."
