The Shafter High Drama Club will be performing the Broadway hit “Mamma Mia” at the Fred Starrh Performing Arts Center at Shafter High on May 11, 12, 13, all beginning at 7 p.m.

Headed up by stage veteran and Drama Club Advisor Hal Friedman, the group have practiced for months on the production, which is a challenging production, with singing, acting and dancing throughout.

Mamma Mia features the works of the supergroup ABBA. Numbers in the show include Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Vous le Vous.

Friedman has had the group take on some challenging works since his tenure started a couple of years ago. Last year, they tackled the production of “The Drowsy Chaperone,” which was another difficult show to put on. In addition to teaching at Shafter High, Friedman is the artistic director of the Ovation Theater in Bakersfield.

Advance tickets are available at Shafter High School, and can be purchased at the door, too. Prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students.
