Summer Night Festival set for Saturday

The Orange Heart Foundation, in partnership with Wasco Families Wrestling is hosting their first Small Town Summer Night Festival on Saturday, June 17.

The event will feature music by DJ BoomDog with lots of dancing. There will be food, drinks, a 50/50 raffle and a cornhole tournament.

"We are doing our first joint event to fundraise for our organizations." Wasco Families Wrestling President Juan Gallardo said.

All proceeds will benefit the two organizations equally.

WFW encourages and supports Wasco youth who join their team by purchasing gear, providing transportation and lodging when necessary, and providing food and meals for wrestlers and their families.

"Coaches dedicate their time to not only coaching, but mentoring, their wrestlers on and off the mat," Gallardo said.

The Orange Heart Foundation partners with other local nonprofits and community organizations to host events that promote family, community and fun, bring attention to community issues and fill gaps in community needs.

Gallardo said the cornhole tournament will be a highlight of the event and that they plan to hold it every year because so many people love it.

"There are a lot of good teams out there in the cornhole world. Many like to do it and have fun, but some people are very competitive."

First-place winners will take home a WWF championship-style belt and trophies for second, third and fourth place.

"Not to mention bragging rights," Gallardo said.

"It's a time for us to get together and have a good night with people from all over Wasco, Shafter, McFarland and Delano."

"Come out, enjoy yourself, and get out of the house," Gallardo said. "It's summertime. You can make it a date and have something to do on a Saturday night."

Pre-sale tickets online are $20 and can be purchased on eventbright.com at Summer Nights Music and Cornhole Tournament.

At the door, tickets are $25.
