First Friday event slated for Oct. 6

The City of Shafter will be holding another First Friday event on Oct. 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Downtown Square on Central Avenue in Shafter. The event is a continuation of a series of events held the past few months, giving Shafter residents a fun afternoon in downtown Shafter.

Mayor Chad Givens, who was one of the organizers of the First Friday events in Shafter said, “These events are a great chance for the families in Shafter to do something fun in Shafter, without spending their money in Bakersfield or somewhere else.”

There will be a variety of food choices, along with music and entertainment, numerous booths set up by service organizations and clubs in Shafter, such as the Shafter Recreation and Parks District, the Shafter Library and Learning Center, and CPK.

There also will be classic cars on display, as well as a variety of informational booths set up for residents to go to. Each event has been a successful, and this one has all of the offerings that the previous events have had.
