Shafter High School has been in the headlines the last couple of years because of their outstanding football team. But there are also other fall sports teams that are making a name for themselves.

The Generals girls tennis team is in the middle of a battle for the SSL title, only dropping two matches so far. Their next match is Tuesday afternoon against Delano.

The Lady Generals volleyball team has made significant strides the past couple of years in returning to SSL supremacy.

This year, the team is having a great year, with a 12-4 record and 6-2 in the SSL. The team has only four seniors on it, making the future for the team bright. They have rolled through the majority of their competition. Three of their four losses this year have been against a league foe, the Taft Wildcats. The team is gearing up for the end of the SSL season and then perhaps a high seed in the playoffs.
