Tigers beat Delano with ground game, 27-7

The Wasco Tigers beat the Tigers of Delano, 27-7, on Friday night, upping their SSL record to 3-1.

The Tigers' offense, led by quarterback David Manzo, used their wing-T formation to perfection throughout the game, making it unnecessary for the Tigers to take to the air. But Manzo did flex his throwing arm on the Tigers' third score of the game, airing it out to Tyrone Davidson for 68 yards, giving the Tigers a 24-7 lead.

Delano kept the game close early with a score of their own, after Wasco had got on the board first with a touchdown run by Michael Dominguez and a two-point conversion, to make the score 8-0. But, after Delano got within one point at 8-7, the Wasco Tigers' defense didn't let the Delano in the end zone for the rest of the game.

A swarming defense that dominated the line of scrimmage kept the Delano offense in third down and long situations for much of the game.

Dominguez and Hami Lopez did most of the damage for the Tigers, gaining over 200 yards on the ground, giving the Tigers over 300 yards of offense for the third consecutive week.

Wasco will look to keep their winning streak alive on Friday night when they will host the Taft Wildcats.

The junior varsity game will begin at 5 p.m., with the varsity kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
