Delmer Wallace Hudson

June 27, 1931 – Dec. 10, 2023

On Dec. 10, 2023, Delmer Wallace Hudson, at age 92, passed away peacefully at his home, and entered eternity with his Lord.

Wallace was born on June 27, 1931, in Mannford, Okla., to Delmer and Lottie Hudson. He spent the first few years of his life on the small family farm with his parents and older brother Kenneth. As a result of the Great Dust Bowl of the '30s, the family migrated from Oklahoma to California, where he grew into adulthood.

Wallace served his country with honor during the Korean War in the U.S Navy. At the conclusion of his service, he married Edith Bowman and began a career in farming in McFarland. Wallace and Edith called their beloved family farm home all their married life. They raised three children, Neal, Dana and Craig. Wallace's wife Edith precedes him in death. They were married 66 years.

Wallace was a faithful Christian man providing a safe, loving, Christ- centered home for his family. He was very generous with his time and talents, taking great joy in helping others. His laugh was contagious, and people would always make a soft spot for him in their hearts, as

he made himself known to them. Wallace loved to go fishing once a year after cotton harvest with his brother Kenneth, best friend John Saunders and others. That tradition carried on for over 30 years.

Wallace was a talented singer and found great joy in singing during his school years. Later in life, he sang in his church choir for many years, while his wife played either the piano or organ. Another passion of Wallace's was the growing of crops on his farm. Seeing crops grow and mature to harvest was very fulfilling to him, even in the frequent lean years. He said he never wanted to do anything else than farm. Wallace was preceded in death by his father, Delmer, his mother, Lottie, and his older brother Kenneth. He has now been reunited with them in Heaven.

Wallace is survived by his eldest son, Neal Hudson and wife Cheri of

Wasco; daughter Dana Snell and husband David of Wichita, Kan.; and his youngest son, Craig Hudson and wife Mary Laura of Mobile, Ala. His loving grandchildren include Landon Snell and wife Chrystin of Wichita; Cameron Snell and wife Brandi of Wichita; Cara Hudson of McPherson, Kan.; and daughter-in-law TauLyn Thomas of Andale, Kan. Wallace had two great–grandchildren, Hudson Snell and James Thomas, both of Andale.

A graveside memorial will be held at Delano Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 9 a.m. Anyone who knew Wallace and wishes to pay their respects to the family is invited.

A very special mention must be made to Hoffman Hospice and nurse Greg. They were a huge blessing to the family, and provided Wallace with loving care, dignity and respect.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you make a donation to Hoffman Hospice, Bakersfield.
