Rafaela Lara Arroyo

Rafaela Lara Arroyo, 75, passed away at her home on Feb. 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in May of 1948 in Sinaloa, Mexico.

Fondly known as "Fala" and "la Güera," her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Upon immigrating from Mexico, she settled in Shafter, where she began her career as a "mayordoma." She then transitioned to become a very skilled forklift driver for The Garlic Company, where she not only excelled in her role but also served as a voice for her fellow coworkers, advocating for their needs and concerns.

Rafaela would ultimately go on to be an entrepreneur, running a flower shop with passion and dedication. Her creativity and love for flowers brought joy to countless customers.The relationships she built will have an everlasting impact. Rafaela will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Rafaela is survived by her children: Romulo, Araceli (spouse Michael), Javier Jr. (spouse Esther), Alfredo, Emmanuel, and Estevan (significant other Esmeralda); grandchildren Hollye (spouse David), Juan Andres, Mary Luna, Michael Jr., Juan de Dios, Hernán Rafael, Jesus, Alondra, Javier III, Alfredo Jr., Sebastian Alfredo, Estrella Krystal, Diego Alfredo, Emmanuel Jr., and Nicolas; great-grandchildren: Avery, Elliott, Alfredo III, Daniel, Ema Rose, and Luna Mia; several siblings, numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friends.

Rafaela was preceded in death by her son Juan de Dios.

A small service and wake will be held in her honor on Tuesday, March 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Basham & Lara Funeral Care. Final services will be held Wednesday, March 6, at noon.

A graveside funeral service burial ceremony at Shafter Cemetery will follow at 2 p.m.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
