Elks Blaine Willard Car Show set for Oct. 5

Wasco Elks Lodge #2419 will present its annual car show on Saturday, Oct. 5. Since 2017, the free event will be in memory of long-time Elks Lodge member Blaine Willard.

"The Blaine Willard Memorial Car Show will be a fun day for all ages to enjoy," said Trustee Jerry Bozarth, who has been a member of the lodge since 1978. "It will commemorate a past member who did so much for the club and community. He participated in all our projects, working hard with his tireless efforts, bringing passion and love to our club."

There will be food, arts and crafts vendors, raffle prizes, a silent auction, event t-shirts, a beer garden, a bloody mary bar and music by Boom Dog and the Dixie Nuts Band.

Almost 500 people attend the event annually, both local and out of town. The proceeds will go toward the lodge's many charitable initiatives.

"Beginning in 1969, the club has given back to the community," Bozarth said.

The club's purpose is to support local organizations and causes. It provides funding for the VFW, Scouts and youth scholarships. It also sponsors wrestling teams and Toys for Tigers, gives Christmas gifts to seniors from various convalescent homes and hosts a dinner for first responders.

"We hope that with this event, we bring people together in celebration while promoting the mission of our club to be of service," Bozarth said.

He anticipates over 60 classic vehicles, including golf carts and motorcycles.

There will be an open class, under construction and motorcycle. The pre-entry fee is $30. Cars move in at 8:30 a.m., and the show starts at 10 a.m.

"We always get many nice cars, and many people admire them. There will be trophies for the winners," Bozarth said. "It will be great seeing everybody enjoying themselves and having a good time."

He said a highlight is always seeing Willard's daughter, Cindy Banducci, at the car show. "She always brings out her father's 1930 Ford and is our biggest supporter."

The event will take place at the Wasco Elks Lodge, 16694 Wasco Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on car show registration or sponsorship opportunities, call Bozarth at 661-747-8831.
