Dollie Imogene Burrow

Dollie Imogene Burrow, 78, of Shafter, passed away on Jan. 18, 2021, in Bakersfield.

Dollie Imogene (Whitmire) Burrow was born in Kenefic, Okla., to William E. Whitmire Sr. and Minnie M. Ritchie on Aug. 20, 1942. She went to school in Quanah, Texas.

Dollie married Floyd E. Burrow on Sept. 6, 1963. They then moved to Shafter, where she lived for the rest of her life.

Dollie worked at the Richland School District for many years. She volunteered at the schools, worked as a classroom aide and as the district library secretary.

Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Whitmire Sr. and Minnie M. (Ritchie) Whitmire, her siblings William E. Whitmire Jr., Marie Sharber, Estlene Norman, Arlis Whitmire, Geneva Wakefield, Hughie Whitmire and Loreese Wiseman, and her grandson, Michael Tweedt.

Dollie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Floyd E. Burrow.; her daughters, Vanessa Sims and husband Edmond Sims, and Kara Tweedt and husband Keith Tweedt. her grandchildren, Cody Tweedt, Leslie Tweedt, Steven Tweed and Amy Tweedt; and her great-grandson, Ethan Tweedt; her step-great grandchildren, Adrian Sanders Jr., Emilee Sanders, Jeniah Sims, Elizabeth Sanders, Laisha Sims, Dominick Sanders, Mallory Sanders, Jonathan Sims, Kamryn Estes and Kaiden Estes; her sister-in-laws, Rose Stock and Millie Bentley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dollie enjoyed traveling the United States with her husband. She enjoyed her time with family and friends. She loved sewing and quilting. She hardly ever missed the Pledge of Allegiance daily with Neal McCoy. She watched his online concerts every weekend. She loved to listen to all genres of music, especially gospel and country music.

Dollie always had a smile and an ear to listen when others needed it. She always made friends where ever she went.

She will be deeply missed by who loved and knew her.
