The Shafter/Wasco Landfill took one more step to being a completely self-maintaining facility when it announced the completion of a system that will bag compost for local residents. Raul Lopez, 67, passed away on Jan. 30, 2024, in Bakersfield. He was born on March 2, 1956, in Mercedes, Texas, to Juan and Flavia Lopez. The Wasco High School wrestling team, under the guidance of Head Coach Juan Gallardo, has emerged victorious from the South Sequoia League Championship.
