The Wasco High School Tigers cheerleading team brings enthusiasm and fun to each game while inspiring the new generation of cheerleaders. The Shafter Chamber of Commerce held their annual Fireworks Show on Sunday night, filling the night sky with a display of color and explosion. Filemon P. Valdez, 89, passed away on June 28, 2022, at his home in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on Nov. 22, 1932, in Martinitos, Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Rosendo and Aniceta P. Valdez. Filemon grew up in Martinitos, Mexico. In 1961, he traveled and settled in Shafter. He started Valdez Trucking Co., where he worked until he retired in 1993. Filemon married Delia Gomez on Jan. 22, 1961, in La Mermeja, Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. They were married for 61 years....
The Shafter Police Department is to keep the community of Shafter safe, be it on the roads or in their neighborhoods, working in eliminating dangerous situations, be they big or small. A 1941 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was regular sight around the Minter Field Airport in the 1940s has come home, thanks to the owner's daughter, who donated the cycle to the Minter Field Air Museum.
